Our Hunt Country

Our Hunt Country lies mainly in Hampshire but a small area of Surrey and West Sussex is also hunted. It stretches from Farnham to Salisbury and down to Portsmouth. They hunt on Saturdays at midday and either Tuesday or Wednesdays at 1pm from October until March.

Beagles are extremely happy hounds with plenty of enthusiasm for everything they do. Although the height standard is required to be under 16 inches they can be very fast and because they are hunted on foot, people think they too have to run fast. Not so! The quarry being a hare, run large circles. So you can pick your own pace either by trying to follow the line or by choosing a high spot and watching them hunt round you. However in some of their hunt area due to woodland etc it may be required to do a little more exercise!  Beagles also come in a variety of colours such as Black & tan or Lemon & white. Occasionally they are shown at their association hound shows and this pack have won many awards. Roy Clinkard is also proud of the fact that his hound breeding is world known, especially in Germany, where both this & last years Champion hounds were Clinkard bloodlines.  Unlike other types of hounds, you don’t need a horse to be able to take part so anyone here today that might be interested please come and enquire.

A Puppy Show and other social functions are also offered during the year.  Everyone is always welcome to this friendly Hunt, regardless of the age group. We brag that our eldest member is 94yrs old, so please don’t think your ever too old to go Beagling!!!
